The genuine shtctky.exe file is a software component of Lenovo On Screen Display by Lenovo Group.
"Shtctky.exe" is Lenovo's ThinkPad Message Receiver for Shortcut Hot Keys. It has a companion DLL ("shtctky.dll") called the "Message Transmitter". Both are part of a 20-program suite used by "tponscr.exe" to control On-Screen Display (OSD), an accessibility option for hearing-impaired users that displays visual indicators and/or text on screen. When a shortcut hotkey (such as "Fn +" another key) defined by Lenovo or the user is pressed, appropriate code is executed in "shtctky.dll" to "transmit" a message which "shtctky.exe" receives and puts on the screen.
