The genuine HxTsr.exe file is a software component of Microsoft Office 2013 by Microsoft Corporation."HxTsr.exe" is a Microsoft compressed executable file called "Microsoft Outlook Communications." It establishes and maintains contact between the Outlook 2013 or 2016 app from the Windows Store on the user's computer and Microsoft's Outlook.com, Outlook.office365.com, or Exchange e-mail and calendar websites. Microsoft began with Windows 8 to allow desktop computers to use touch-screen oriented apps, including Outlook. "HxTsr.exe" is part of Outlook apps, because it resides in a hidden "WindowsApps" subfolder of "C:\Program Files". Its path includes a version number, e.g., "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_17.7466.41167.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\HxTsr.exe", which creates frequent firewall problems, invalidating path-based recognition rules when an update's new version number changes the file's path. Antivirus programs also often identify a compressed executable file as malware because of structural similarities. A virus named "HxTsr.exe" is said to exist, making location a critical way to distinguish it. HxTSR stands for Hidden Executable To Sync Remote Servers
