The genuine tpnumlkd.exe file is a software component of Lenovo On Screen Display by Lenovo Group.
"Tpnumlkd.exe", along with "tpnumlk.exe" and a dynamic link library named "tpnumlkd.dll", is used by "TPONSCR.exe" in some 64-bit Lenovo ThinkPad Windows laptops to present the on-screen display when CapsLock or NumLock is pressed. (Some ThinkPads use "CAPOSD.exe" for these displays but when that is present the "TPONSCR" suite of more than twenty modules is not.) These programs reside in "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY\" and can be removed via the Control Panel. They used to install automatically with the Lenovo Thinkpad Configuration Utility but must now install separately. Some applications like GoToMeeting have had problems staying full-screen when "tpnumlkd.exe" is running, according to Lenovo's support site.
